Brawl vs Historic Brawl: what's the difference?

Brawl and Historic Brawl share the same rules: 100 cards, singleton, a legendary commander, color-identity restrictions, 1-on-1. The single difference is which cards are legal.

Brawl (Standard pool)

Brawl uses the current Standard-legal card pool, which rotates as new sets release and old ones leave.

The pool is smaller and shifts over time, so decks evolve with each rotation.

Historic Brawl (full Arena pool)

Historic Brawl uses the entire MTG Arena card pool and does not rotate.

It's the larger, more powerful, and more popular of the two formats.

Which should you play?

If you want the widest card selection and a stable pool, play Historic Brawl.

If you prefer a tighter, evolving metagame tied to Standard, play Brawl.
